Goodbowl is a fast-casual restaurant nestled in the heart of Richmond. They offer their patrons a selection of quality ingredients for clean, healthy bowls and sauces made only in-house.
The design challenge at Goodbowl was to create the big statement pieces that would educate the customers all about the 'goodness' that went into their food. Goodbowl was founded on a love for a clean, healthy lifestyle: Eat Good, Feel Good, Live Good. From a design perspective, I needed to ensure that everything was clean, easy to understand, and impactful. Much like their food, the visual identity had to be simple, to the point, and fun.
This brand came with its logo already developed, which presented an additional challenge: how to take the existing logo the owner had created and build upon it, expanding the visual identity while staying true to the brand's original vision.
The very first thing we did was to create a feature wall that their guests would see as soon as they walked through the door. There is so much thought and intention that went into building this restaurant that we wanted to share through the use of typography.
This is a simple, repeatable pattern that we use at Goodbowl for background elements, paper liners, and anywhere else it happens to "fit-the-bill".
In addition to the Feature Wall we created the menus. Above is the Vitamin Bar menu for their smoothie and juice options and below is the Build Your Bowl menu for their food. Similar to the feature wall we used a rustic feeling typeface and texture that really helps give you the fresh from the farm, hand made quality that is so important to the brand. Thin clean lines help give the menu structure and organization while still feeling clean and minimum.
Over the years, I have had, and continue to have, the pleasure of evolving this brand. While I don't have photos of everything we created, I am excited to see how the brand continues to grow.
